Our Story

The Royals
Our Pottery program began with one teammates love for clay. Christian found pottery as a means to express himself. This inspired the Royal family to invest in a home studio for Christian to develop his practice. The Royals kindly invited Beyond Basic into their studio in order to teach us how to bring this skill to the rest of our team. After donating their studio supplies to the Beyond Basic program, we were able to create Beyond Handcrafted.

Social Enterprise
Our pottery studio became more than just a way to practice fine motor skills. It was an opportunity for us to raise our own funding and feed back into our community. We hit the ground running by attending markets in our community, selling to friends and family, and sharing the mission of Beyond Basic all the while. However, we knew we wanted more.

Brick and Mortar
In the summer of 2024, we were finally able to open our storefront. This allows us to host events, sell to more people, and become a real presence in the community. After an epic grand opening, we began hosting our own pop ups, featuring vendors that support the disabled community, and creating a space for our team to practice their retail skills.

Looking Beyond
We now have a dedicated pottery studio director who runs the operation of the studio and classes. We are looking forward to being able to hire teammates full time to work in the studio. We can't wait to grow our online presence as well to reach even more awesome people like you! There are so many opportunities for growth, and inclusivity and we can't wait for you to be a part of it!
